Connect the Boxes

Connect the Boxes

2-4 players
You will need paper and a pencil to make a big grid. Make a row of dots that are evenly spaced (for example – 12 dots – each one 1 inch apart). Now make another row 1 inch under that one – putting a dot to line up with each dot in the top row. Continue till you have 12 rows of 12 dots. You can make more dot rows if you want – that will make the game last longer.

The goal for each player is to build a box (a square with 4 sides). Each player takes a turn and connects 2 dots that are next to each other (vertically or horizontally) with a line. Once you connect the fourth line and have made a box, put your initials inside of it. As long as you can keep making boxes, you carry on with your turn.

When you can no longer make a box, the next player continues with drawing a line. Once all of the grid has been filled in, count up how many boxes each player has. The player with the most boxes is the winner. This game can also be played on a blacktop using chalk.
