  1. Step Up  - Full of great characters, (Channing Tatum being one of the actors) lively music and amazing dancing.
  1. Shall We Dance – A romantic comedy about a bored but happily married man who sneaks out to learn ballroom dancing.  Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez are great dance partners.
  1. Dance with Me – This is a Latin ballroom dancing film featuring Vanessa L. Williams (Ruby) and Cheyenne (Rafael).  The dancing is the best part of the film, but the storyline does seem to drag.  One of the best scenes is the ballroom dance competition at the end of the movie.
  1. Save the Last Dance – This is a teen romance starring Julia Stiles.  She is a young ballet dancer struggling with the loss of her mother.  She befriends a hip-hop dancer and the couple quickly bonds.
  1. Mad Hot Ballroom – This is a documentary featuring elementary students from New York City.  Although reluctant at first, the children are taught ballroom dancing and compete in a city-wide dancing competition.  It’s a very inspirational film.
  1. Dirty Dancing – Jennifer Grey portrays a young girl who falls in love with her summer dance instructor played by Patrick Swayze.
  1. Center Stage – This ballet film follows the dance education of three young dancers at the American Ballet Academy.  Each girl has her own strengths and weakness and each has challenges to overcome.
  1. Strictly Ballroom – Paul Mecurio plays Scott Hastings, an Australian ballroom dancer struggling to change the world of competitive ballroom dancing by introducing his own unconventional steps.  A very inspirational and funny film.  It leaves you feeling that anything is possible if you believe it and never give up. 
  1. Flashdance – This is a classic 80’s film that inspires young girls to follow their dreams.  Jennifer Beals plays the lead who against all odds, manages to get herself on the road to success in the world of dance.
  1. Billy Elliott – This is the film that inspires young male dancers to follow their dreams.  Billy lives in a small mining town in England, and against his father’s wishes, and after facing several challenges, pursues his love of ballet.
