Field Hockey
U.S. Olympic Team Field Hockey Training
Field hockey training involves running drills like 3 passing in order to practice passing and receiving. Accurate kicking can also be practiced by having one player take turns kicking to two other players. Another drill is called Catch a Stick which helps with possession drills. A more involved drill is the 4 v. 4 possession drill.
A 4v4 drill involves two teams that need to try to keep possession for as long as possible or it can be up to a set number of passes like the first 20 passes.
Sudden changes of pace and direction can keep things interesting and less predictable.
Passing a receiving takes up a large portion of drill time including pass and follow, dribble - pass and move, space pass and pass and follow to practice a right wing cross.
Getting good at field hockey means taking time to focus on individual skills and drills like the U.S. olympic team.
