Savion and Stevie Tap
Famous tapper Savion Glover does a tap dance while music legend Stevie Wonder plays Ribbon in the Sky on the piano. Classic live performance.
Savion Glover was born in Newark, New Jersey and studied dance at Broadway dance Center in Manhattan. One day his teacher arranged an audition for him with Henry LeTang, a Broadway choreographer that in turn led to his Broadway debut at the age of 12 in The Tap Dance Kid. Savion Glover also made his film debut in the 1989 movie Tap with Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis, Jr. By 1990 he joined the cast of Sesame Street.
Savion Glover was the founder of the HooFeRzCLuB School for Tap. His philosophy is that everyone has the right to an education in the arts. He is grateful for the opportunities that he has had in dance and wants to share his knowledge. Courses at his School for Tap concentrate on the history and traditions surrounding tap dancing. And the goal is to help students through the creative process of refining their own approach to the art of tapping.
In this video, we get to see two legends working together. It’s amazing how Savion works so well with Stevie’s song. His rhythms and sounds are bang on. He makes it look so smooth and easy!
