Katrina performs a lyrical solo to "We Go On" at a dance competition in Detroit, MI. This 2012 lyrical dance solo performed to Just Go On features original dance moves and choreography in the lyrical dance style. This was Katrina's first lyrical solo - she wanted to try something different. The dance was performed May 2012 - Kat was 13.
She won a special award from the judges and also a scholarship.
Lyrical dance has a foundation in ballet. The turns you see are practiced in ballet class. The freedom of movement in these types of dances are also borrowed from the jazz dance style.
Unlike acro dance and tap, lyrical dance is full of nuances and subtle details in the dance which include pauses, small gestures and other expressive moves to the music.
