Cambodian Dance
This is a Cambodian court dance. Robam Me Ambao (butterfly dance) was choreographed by Queen Kossamak Neary Roth during the reign of King Norodom Suramarith. It is a dance drama about butterflies and a hunter.
Many cultures use dance to tell a story. When few people could read, except for the very rich or educated, storytelling was a way to pass down history and wisdom. Many dances were made to tell a story and have it live on. Dance is also a way to make a story more emotional and memorable.
