India - Naga Dance
India - Naga Dance
India is located in south Asia and is the second most populated country in the world, after China. There are many different regions and many forms of dance. Some Indian music and dances date back thousands of years.
This dance is called Naga, and the ancient Naga tribes of India and Sri Lanka were said to be snake worshippers. The Naga people are from the far Northeast section of India.
This girl is performing it at a Diwali (Festival of Light) in 2008. She seems to have put a lot of modern moves in the dance, blending tradtional and modern moves to make it her own. We love the colors and styles of many of the Indian costumes and dresses. The bright coral orange that the girl is wearing is a very popular color. The colors are often very vibrant and colorful like India itself.
