The Republic of the Phillipines is a country located in southeast Asia, surrounded by the western Pacific Ocean. There are over 92 million people in the country, making it the 12th most populous country in the world. It is thought that approximately the same amount of Filipinos live in other countries around the world.
The Phillipines have many different styles of dances, based on the multiple ethnicities and the
influence of many different cultures. Eastern and Western cultures have combined in Phillipine culture, and it shows in their cuisine, music, architecture and celebrations. Many Phillipine festivals and celebrations are marked with traditional dance and music, including tinikling and singkil dances that use bamboo poles.
This Philippine folk dance is called LAWISWIS KAWAYAN. It is performed to a Waray folk song that has becaome popular throughout the Philippine archipelago.
