Salsa Basic Dance Step
Salsa Basic Dance Step Lesson
Julian teaches us the basic Salsa Dance step. Forward and backward, side to side. Learning the salsa basic dance step is the fundament to adding on more challenging salsa routines.
No one is sure exactly where Salsa dance started, but it is believed to be a combination of several Latin and Afro-Carribean dances, combining European and African dance culture. The term ‘salsa’ was created in New York, meaning the dance was a spicy mix of flavours or dance ingredients.
This dance genre is thought to be from Cuba, but is popular all over the Americas, with many variations in style. Turns are important in Salsa. Salsa is similar to the Mambo since both dances have a pattern of 6 dance steps over 8 counts of music.
Salsa is popular throughout South and North America, as well as parts of Europe and Japan. Salsa usually is a partner dance, but can also be a partner exchange dance, a line dance or a solo dance.
