Alicia Sacramone, a very talented U.S. Gymnast, winner of ten World Gymnastics Championships Medals was very talented on the vault.  She won National and World Titles on that apparatus.

This video illustrates simple vaults and then it progresses with more difficult elements with twists.  It then illustrates those vaults with saltos  (front and back tucks) combined with twists.  All of these vaults are demonstrated by various international gymnasts.

Run as fast as you can, hit the springboard, get over the vault & stick the landing.  Here is a guide to the points code for the vault and gymnasts performing them.

The vault without handles is one of the main apparatus on the gymnastics competition circuit. You can do all kinds of aerial stunts with the momentum from jumping onto the springboard and launching in the air.

The landing is a very important component to get high marks in the actual gymnastics competitions for the vault portion of your routines.
