Hip Hop Dance
Freak Show Dance Performance
This hip hop competitive dance performance was performed to a Freak Show medley by Sloane's 11-12 year old Dance Group.
This dance routine was one of our favorite dances of all time.
Sloane is part of a really large dance group here including some of the older studio dancers. This number is called Freak Show and we wore clear masks with scars on half of our faces. (they are a little hard to see in the video) This dance competed under the Street Style category and placed with several awards.
Hip Hop Dance Routine
This video was filmed in July 2010 at a national dance competition in Myrtle Beach South Carolina.
Hip hop dance routines are also referred to as street style dance at dance competitions.
This dance was made up of a few different hip hop songs. It makes the dances way more fun and interesting to watch when they use different music by different artists.
When dealing with this many dancers, they are put into a category called a Line because they are bigger than a large group. Often times the dancers will be split in groups. Some will go offstage while others will do choreography and then they will switch. They always end up with everyone on stage for a big finish.
In this dance, it’s not quite all true hip hop technique. It’s more of a combination with jazz moves. It could have even been classified as an open dance.
