Mambo Italiano Jazz Dance

Mambo Italiano Jazz Dance Group

Katrina and her junior group did a jazz dance group performance to Mambo Italiano. We competed as 9 year olds and won several competitions with this one. The costumes were really nice too, and designed in red, white and green to match the Italian flag.

One time, the fish prop we use was not available during the performance, so the dancer had to wave around an "air fish" during that part of the song.  Luckily, it was during a recital and we weren’t being judged!

The song we are dancing to was a number one hit for Rosemary Clooney in 1955.  It was written by Bob Merrill in 1954 on a paper napkin while he was dining at an Italian restaurant in New York.  It is still a very entertaining song today.
