Pilates was invented by Joseph Pilates in Germany in the early 20th century.  There are over 11 million people who do pilates and more than 15000 pilates instructors in the US and Canada. 

Pilates principles to condition the body include proper alignment, centering, concentration, control and breathing. Here is one girl doing her own pilates workout at home.

There are lots of exercises you can do on the floor, a mat,  or a towel.  You don’t have to have expensive equipment or go to a gym.  Just learn some basic moves, put on your favorite music, and get moving!
